COMPUWARE CORPORATION TO ACQUIRE COMPUTER PEOPLE UNLIMITED

 FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: CPWR) today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to merge Computer People Unlimited, Inc. (CPU) into Compuware. CPU is a privately held information technology professional services company with headquarters in Milwaukee.
 CPU's 470 employees service approximately 200 clients from offices in Milwaukee, Madison and Appleton, Wis., and Minneapolis. Founded in 1984, CPU had annual revenues of approximately $29,000,000 during calendar year '93.
 "Computer People Unlimited meets every one of our criteria for a successful services acquisition," said John N. Shevillo, Chief Operating Officer of Compuware's Professional Services Division.
 "CPU has significant presence in the Wisconsin professional services marketplace, has an exceptional management team which ranks with the best in the industry, and its staff delivers very high quality services across a broad range of technologies. The CPU merger brings Compuware important strengths in client/server systems implementation and object oriented design techniques, which fit well with Compuware's client/server strategy, and provides an excellent platform for expansion into the Minneapolis marketplace."
 Upon final approval of the transaction, Compuware will issue 820,000 shares of its common stock to the shareholders of CPU. The merger is expected to be accounted for as a pooling of interests. Completion of the transaction is subject to the receipt of regulatory approvals.
 Computer People Unlimited principals Eric Butlein and Richard Weiss will continue to manage the organization.
