COMPUWARE CORPORATION AND IBM ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC CICS DEVELOPMENT ALLIANCE

 FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Compuware Corporation, a leading worldwide supplier of system software products and professional services, today announced that it has signed a development agreement with IBM for the Customer Information Control System (CICS) problem determination environment.
 Under terms of the agreement, Compuware will work with IBM in CICS development planning and testing. This will allow Compuware, the leader in fault diagnosis (problem determination) tools, to deliver CICS fault diagnosis products concurrently with new IBM releases, an essential requirement in enabling customers to implement new CICS releases quickly. As a part of this agreement, Compuware also announced that it has acquired ownership of the base CICS Problem Determination/MVS product from IBM.
 "We will benefit from the agreement between IBM and Compuware because it will ensure that Compuware's CICS tools will be available concurrently with new releases of CICS," said Bruce Galle, manager of database administration for Talbots, a user of Compuware's fault diagnosis tools. "This announcement reinforces our confidence in Compuware as our long-term supplier of CICS fault diagnosis solutions."
 Pat Sueltz, director of transactions systems at IBM's Hursley Park Laboratories, stated that "this agreement recognizes Compuware's expertise in CICS problem determination tools and expands our existing relationship, which began when Compuware developed CICS PD/MVS for IBM. We have worked closely with Compuware over four successful releases of CICS PD/MVS, and believe that this agreement best serves the long-term interests of our customers."
