COMPUWARE ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE OF FILE-AID FOR DB2

 File-AID for DB2 Release 2.2 Exploits New Features of DB2 2.3;

Adds Enhanced Plan Analysis Capabilities and Audit Trail Facility
 FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR), a leading worldwide supplier of IBM system software tools and professional services, today announced File-AID for DB2, Release 2.2. New features in File-AID for DB2 2.2 include new SQL and Plan analysis capabilities, an audit trail capability, and CA-Panvalet and CA-Librarian support. These new features extend File-AID for DB2's ability to help programmers quickly and comprehensively test their DB2 applications before putting them into production.
 File-AID for DB2 is a self-contained DB2 data management and testing tool designed primarily to help programmers move quickly through the application test cycle. File-AID for DB2 enables programmers to create, populate, customize, refresh and authorize DB2 objects -- without coding SQL. Programmers get into the test cycle faster because File-AID for DB2 lets them validate and explain SQL before beginning the compile and bind process. In addition, DBAs can directly access File-AID capabilities through Compuware's TransRELATE Workbench for DB2.
 Release 2.2's enhanced SQL and Plan analysis facility provides rules-based analysis of SQL EXPLAIN output in plain language. A single SQL statement or a set of bound statements grouped by DBRM, Plan, Collection ID or Package can be analyzed either online or in batch. The SQL development facility now provides direct access to source statements in CA-Panvalet or CA-Librarian when doing SQL prototyping or cursor logic validation. These new enhancements make it easier for programmers to diagnose and correct potential performance problems during the testing process.
 File-AID for DB2 2.2 enhances the browse and edit capabilities to include Vertical Row Mode, Column Hold, and an audit trail for documenting changes. In addition, an enhanced extract function makes it easier to download DB2 data to XDB using File-AID/PC for DB2.
 "This release significantly enhances File-AID for DB2's ability to address the data management and testing needs of DB2 programmers worldwide," said Christine Galloway, Compuware's director of File and Data Management Products. "The plan analysis capabilities and links to other products, such as Compuware's XPEDITER, and File-AID/PC for DB2 and the TransRELATE Workbench for DB2, make it one of the most comprehensive, integrated DB2 testing solutions available."
 File-AID for DB2 2.2 will be generally available in April 1993. Pricing starts from $29,500 depending on CPU size. File-AID for DB2 2.2 supports the following environments: MVS/XA and MVS/ESA, DB2 Version 1, Release 3 or higher, and ISPF/PDF Version 2, Release 3 or higher.
