COMPUWARE ANNOUNCES NEW RELEASE OF FILE-AID/PC; PROVIDES DOWNLOWD SUPPORT FOR IMS RELATED DATABASES

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CWPR) today announced File-AID/PC, Release 2.1. File-AID/PC, known for its simplified download approach, now adds the ability to download logical or application-related IMS databases from the mainframe for PC testing. This enhanced download capability lets programmers easily establish the appropriate test data environment on the PC, with respect to both size and data content.
Programmers first downsize the related databases using mainframe File-AID for IMS, ensuring the database subsets are synchronized based on the logical or application relationships. These related IMS databases may then be directly downloaded into Micro Focus IMSVS86 databases on the PC, using a simple, copy-like function.
In addition, File-AID/PC's editor has been expanded to provide editing in a full screen mode with ISPF-like line and primary commands.
"This release has made it an easy, one-step process to load our application-related databases into IMSVS86," said Dennis Vass, systems engineer, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia. "The effort involved in moving subsets of our IMS application-related databases to the PC-based development environment from the mainframe was simplified by release 2.1 of File-AID/PC."
File-AID/PC Release 2.1 is now available. It is licensed on a volume basis, starting at $12,000 for one host CPU license of File-AID Hostmanager, and 10 licenses of either File-AID/PC, File-AID/PC for DB2, or a combination of both.
