COMPUTER RESEARCH REPORTS LOWER REVENUES AND FIRST QUARTER LOSS
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Research, Inc., (NASDAQ: CORE) today reported a 24 percent reduction in revenues for the three month period ended Nov. 30, 1991, resulting in a $250,069 loss or a loss of 7 cents per share compared to net income of $32,595 or 1 cent per share for the first quarter of the previous year.
Revenues for the quarter were $2,240,256 compared to $2,930,034 last year.
Computer research provides computerized back-office accounting services for securities broker/dealers and security operations of banks throughout the United States. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Computer Applications Division, Inc., provides CAD/CAM (computer-aided design-drafting/computer-aided manufacturing) systems, equipment and training for engineers, architects, industrial designers and educational institutions in western Pennsylvania and in the Denver area.
Computer Research President James L. Schultz said the drop in the company's revenues for the quarter was due primarily to a decrease of some $500,000 in sales of CAD-related computer equipment and software.
"The continuing recession and strong competitive pressures from discount dealers and mail order houses combined to produce the sharp drop in our CAD Division's revenues," Schultz said. "Also, revenues from our data processing services decreased about $100,000 or 8 percent compared to the previous year primarily due to lower computer programming revenues."
