COMPUTER PRODUCTS, INC. EXPANDS FAMILY OF HIGH DENSITY POWER CONVERTERS; 40 AMP SERIES OFFERS INCREASED POWER RANGES AT LOWER OUTPUT VOLTAGES
BOSTON, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to growing demand for increased power ranges in lower output voltage products, Computer Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPRD) announced that it has expanded its line of high density 200 watt power converters, called the BASIX(tm) A20 Series, to include 40 amp models.
Computer Products, Inc. announced its entry to the high density converter market in January 1992. The BASIX product family is targeted at the computer, telecommunications and instrumentation industries. Computer Products named the high density power converter family "BASIX" to reflect its strategy of giving customers a complete yet basic structure for building their own power sources based on pre-engineered solutions.
The new product of the BASIX A20 series increases power output at five volts to 200 watts, and offers low output voltages of 1.5, 2.1 and 3.3 volts to address growing customer demand for high speed logic, low voltage termination and FutureBus.
Dennis L. Akers, Computer Products vice president/general manager, commented, "We added the 40 amp series to the BASIX A20 product line to address our customers' needs for reliable product performance, cost-effectiveness, high quality and decreased time to market. Regardless of the power need, BASIX gives the customer the cost and time savings of purchasing standard power modules and the flexibility of custom design." Pricing and Availability
The BASIX A20 Series high density converters are available for sampling immediately. Production is scheduled for the second quarter of 1992. A typical full-featured product is list priced at US $250, with volume discounts. BASIX is sold through each of Computer Products, Inc.'s Power Conversion Group's four divisions: Power Conversion America, Power Conversion Europe, Power Conversion Asia/Pacific, and the National Accounts division.
