COMPUTER LANGUAGE RESEARCH TO OFFER ELECTRONIC TAX RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS
FROM RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF AMERICA/WARREN GORHAM AND LAMONT
DALLAS, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Language Research, Inc. (Fast-Tax) (NASDAQ: CLRI) recently entered into an agreement with Research Institute of America/Warren Gorham and Lamont (RIA/WG&L) whereby Fast-Tax will offer electronic versions of RIA/WG&L tax publications to its clients. The relationship between Fast-Tax and RIA/WG&L is the first of its kind between a major publisher of tax publications and a leading provider of computerized tax automation systems.
Fast-Tax will incorporate into its software electronic versions of publications from RIA/WG&L, with an initial release in January 1992. With the breadth of tax publications now offered by RIA/WG&L and the tax automation technology of Fast-Tax, this relationship will offer significant advantages to Fast-Tax clients:
-- Network-based electronic research products that include the
 following RIA/WG&L publications:
-- RIA Tax Code and Regulations (complete Internal Revenue Code
of 1986 and related Treasury Regulations, including temporary
 and proposed)
-- RIA Master Federal Tax Manual
-- Integration of tax publications with tax compliance software
 -- Industry-specific publications offered with industry-specific tax
 compliance products
-- Increased productivity with a new and easier way to use tax
 publications
Steve Winn, president of Computer Language Research, said, "This agreement is the culmination of a two-year effort to convert selected RIA/WG&L publications to electronic format and integrate them with Fast- Tax software. RIA/WG&L has an outstanding track record for delivering high quality, consistent and in-depth publications covering a wide range of tax topics. These publications are a natural fit into our long term strategy of providing our clients with all the tools they need to operate their tax department. Conversely, we can now offer new market opportunities to RIA/WG&L. I believe it will be a winning combination for both companies."
James Ramsey, senior vice president of the Electronic Publishing Division of RIA/WG&L, adds, "Electronic publishing is just beginning to come of age, and we are committed to implementing this new technology. Electronic research is receiving close attention from our traditional hard-copy subscribers, especially in light of their reliance on the speed and convenience of microcomputers. The trend is clearly toward electronic publications -- and our relationship with CLR enhances our ability to serve tax practitioners, both in existing and new markets, through a new format."
In addition to RIA/WG&L research publications, Fast-Tax is now offering network-based electronic editions of the following materials:
 -- Fast-Tax instructions
-- Federal and State Condensed Form Instructions
 -- IRS publications
RIA/WG&L, headquartered in New York City, is part of The Thomson Corporation, one of the largest publishers of specialized information products in North America, U.K., Australia and New Zealand. RIA/WG&L is a leading provider of research materials to the tax, accounting and legal markets. With the recent acquisition by RIA/WG&L of Maxwell Macmillan Professional and Business Reference Publishing (formerly Prentice Hall Information Services), RIA/WG&L offers an unparalleled tax and accounting product line.
