COMPUTER LANGUAGE RESEARCH AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF AMERICA
 ANNOUNCE EASYGO WITH ONPOINT
CARROLLTON, Texas, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Language Research, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLRI) and Research Institute of America Inc. (RIA) today announced a joint agreement that will bring to market the first integrated CD-ROM based tax software package for small- to mid- size accounting firms.
RIA's electronic research product, OnPoint(TM), has been integrated with EasyGo(TM), a new inhouse preparation package from the Fast-Tax division of Computer Language, to create EasyGo with OnPoint(TM) -- an affordable desktop system offering tax compliance, research, planning, practice management and electronic tax forms -- all on a single compact disc. Since the product operates directly from the CD, it also eliminates the need for a large, expensive hard drive and makes the system portable.
This new product represents a significant new initiative for the Fast-Tax division on Computer Language, which has traditionally marketed its services to larger accounting firms, corporations and banks. EasyGo with OnPoint is targeted at small- to mid-size accounting firms. The number of prospective buyers of EasyGo with OnPoint is considerably larger than the segment of the accounting market previously served by the company.
According to Lou Lucarelli, RIA president and CEO, "This joint venture is significant for both the product it brings to market, and as an alliance between two different companies serving the same professional community. Fast-Tax compliance products are unmatched in the industry, and joining compliance with OnPoint research represents a significant breakthrough for the smaller CPA firms."
Stephen Winn, president and CEO of Computer Language, said, "Each product is a cost-effective productivity tool on its own. But the joint product will yield even greater results. When we conceived of the idea of linking tax compliance to tax research, we looked at all the electronic research products available but none compared with RIA's OnPoint for overall ease of use and speed in answering complex tax questions."
By having OnPoint research tightly linked to EasyGo compliance, tax professionals can now go from preparing a return to exploring relevant research material at the touch of a button without having to leave the return. Tax professionals under pressure to perform more work in less time, while still maintaining quality service, will benefit from EasyGo with OnPoint.
