COMPUTER COMPANY HELPS KIDS WITH EQUIPMENT DONATION

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its equipment donation program, Wyse Technology has given two personal computers worth approximately $3,000 to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Santa Clara County. This gift will allow the agency to track its 300-plus "matches" of children from single-parent families with adult volunteers who become their friends and role models. In addition, the agency will use the 386-based systems to access their donor database and the agency's financial records.
"We are very pleased that Wyse has made this generous donation," said Sheila McGarvey, executive director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. "It will allow us to increase our productivity and free up more time to devote to making and supporting our matches."
According to Shelley Potter, Wyse director of Communications, the donation is part of a new program begun by Wyse last year. The program focuses on three areas -- organizations that support children, families in stress and K-12 education. Preference is given to requests from Wyse employees.
"We want to recognize and support employees who are involved in community programs and give something back to the communities in which we live and work," Potter explained.
Wyse Technology is a leading independent supplier of microprocessor- based products, which include terminals, IBM PC-compatible computers, monitors and UNIX-based multi-user systems. Founded in 1981, Wyse is headquartered in San Jose and operates sales offices across the United States and in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Europe.
