COMPUTER CITY ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN EXPANSION, SHIFTS MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS TO UNITED STATES

 FORT WORTH, Texas, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer City(R), the fastest growing computer superstore retail chain in America, announced plans today to strengthen its position in the European market. Company President Alan Bush announced that Computer City will open its third SuperCenter later this year in Europe and that corporate headquarters in the U.S. has assumed responsibility for European operations.
 "We have been pleased with the performance of our Stockholm and Copenhagen superstores, and will continue to analyze the market to maximize on the tremendous growth opportunities throughout Europe," Bush said.
 In May of 1992, Computer City opened SuperCenters in Stockholm, Sweden, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Each SuperCenter averages approximately 25,000-square-feet and carries more than 5,000 leading brands of personal computer and home office products.
 Computer City is the only computer superstore retail chain in the U.S. authorized to carry Apple, AST, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Packard Bell and Tandy(R) personal computer products.
 Computer City SuperCenters in Europe carry most of the name brand merchandise sold in the U.S. including Apple, Commodore, Comaq, Canon, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Victor.
 Computer City operates 18 SuperCenters in the U.S. and has announced plans to open an additional 16 superstores each year over the next three years for a total of 66 U.S. locations. New locations announced to date include Boston; South Seattle; Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; Sacramento and Santa Anna, Calif.
 Computer City is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tandy Corporation (NYSE: TAN), America's pre-eminent retailer of personal computer and consumer electronics.
