 COMPTEK RECEIVES FIRST ORDER FOR
 NEW WIRELESS DATA COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE
BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Comptek Research, Inc. (AMEX/BSE: CTK) today announced that its telecommunications subsidiary has received an order for 800 units of the DataMover(R) 2000 from Bison Data Corporation. The units are for banking customers in Mexico and Venezuela. Deliveries are scheduled for over the next nine months with the initial 250 units to be shipped by March 15, 1992. Bison Data, a data communications company, was formed as a joint venture by Comptek and other parties in October 1991.
"We are pleased with this first manufacturing order for the new DataMover(R)," stated Dr. John R. Cummings, Comptek's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Bison is in negotiations with other international parties for the sale of more units which in turn will lead to additional manufacturing orders to Comptek as the exclusive supplier for Bison."
DataMover incorporates patented technology and utilizes radio waves to cost-effectively transmit data, which previously required land-based telephone lines. The current primary application of the product is its use in conjunction with bank automated teller machines (ATMs). With DataMover's wireless transmission approach, networks can be constructed in areas where telephone access is impractical or prohibitively expensive. Quality, efficiency, and reliability of data are enhanced.
Comptek Reseach, Inc., with thirteen offices and subsidiary locations in the United States, designs, develops, and manufactures sophisticated electronics and communications systems for military and commercial applications.
