 COMPTEK ANNOUNCES CELLULAR DATAMOVER|
 TO BE TESTED BY NYNEX
BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Comptek Research, Inc. (AMEX/BSE: CTK) announced today its release for field testing by NYNEX Mobile Communications Company a cellular frequency version of the DataMover(TM) 2000 product. The DataMover, which is manufactured exclusively by Comptek for sale by Bison Data Corporation, utilizes advanced digital and radio frequency technology in combination with a patented information processing protocol to transmit financial data via radio waves in place of the traditional approach of specialized telephone lines. The product, which is currently approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for operation on the 900 MHz frequency band, is targeted for use on metropolitan area networks for processing of automated teller machine (ATM) and credit verification transactions.
John R. Cummings, chairman and CEO of Comptek, stated, "International sales of our DataMover product are gaining momentum. NYNEX is the first major domestic company to order the device for testing."
The DataMover is now capable of operating on the cellular frequency bands (800 MHz) at an enhanced processing speed of 19.2 KBPS. The FCC has granted Comptek special temporary authority to conduct product tests. Initial field testing of the cellular version is being undertaken under an agreement NYNEX Mobile Communications Company signed with Bison Data Corporation, a joint venture company of which Comptek owns 31 percent. It is anticipated that over the next several months, DataMovers will be installed at approximately 100 NYNEX commercial customer sites.
Cummings added, "Wireless transmission of data at the speed of 19.2 KBPS represents the state-of-the-art and substantially increases the DataMover's data capacity and spectrum efficiency."
The DataMover is being marketed in the United States by Bison Data directly and through a network of distributors in Latin America, the Far East and the Pacific Rim.
Comptek Research, Inc., with 13 offices and subsidiary locations in the United States, is a domestic and international supplier of technically advanced electronics and data communication systems to government and industry.
