COMPTEK ANNOUNCES AWARD OF TWO GOVERNMENT
 CONTRACTS FOR $14.7 MILLION
BUFFALO, N.Y., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Comptek Research, Inc. (AMEX/BSE: CTK), an electronics and data communications company, today announced that its Federal Systems Division has been awarded two contract extensions valued at $14.7 million.
A one-year extension of work on a U.S. Air Force program calls for Comptek to build four mobile command shelters at a price of $4.2 million. The effort is to be completed as a subcontract to Sierra Nevada Corporation under the Air Force's Tactical Air Control Center's (MTACC's) program. Each MTACC shelter is intended to be operated by a team of 12 people and provide mobile command and control capability to field commanders in support of battlefield strategy. Comptek recently delivered three similar units under the first phase of the program awarded to Comptek a year ago. The program contemplates two additional options of four shelters each, subject to future commitments by the Air Force.
John J. Sciuto, Comptek Federal Systems Division's president, noted, "Comptek has considerable expertise in fabricating and integrating command and control systems, and we are gratified by the Air Force's continued confidence in our capability." Comptek also announced that $10.5 million of additional engineering support work was ordered by the U.S. Navy under an existing five-year contract. This latest funding increase represents an expansion of the current option year (Aug. 31, 1991, through Aug. 30, 1992) to $23 million and expands the total current contract value to $88 million.
This newest Navy funding is for work for the Naval Air Systems Command's Electronic Mission Support Directorate at the Pacific Missile Test Center in Point Mugu, Calif. Comptek's Federal Systems Division directly and via a number of subcontractors provides a full range of systems, software and hardware engineering support for both the Navy and the Marine Corps on this contract.
Comptek Research, Inc., with 13 offices and subsidiary locations in the United States, develops command, control, communications and intelligence systems and electronic warfare systems, primarily for the Department of Defense. Comptek, through its commercial subsidiary, also provides telecommunications transmission systems and services. Other related activities include providing specialized technical services and the manufacturing of precision electronics for commercial applications.
