COMPREHENSIVE SELF-EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM OFFERED BY DRAKE
 TRAINING & TECHNOLOGIES
MINNEAPOLIS, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- People working for themselves can now improve their business skills through a self employment training program that boasts an 80 percent success record. The comprehensive, self-taught program begins with a complete skills assessment, and is followed by a 10-section business skills training system.
"This training system interested us because it has already proven itself," said Marty Ferrante, Drake director of business development. Eight of 10 people who have completed the self employment training program have remained in business past the generally accepted five year mark for determining long-term success. Drake will offer the program in a self-paced, do-it-yourself format that teaches in a clear, concise manner.
The program is divided into several components. The first is a comprehensive skills assessment to help candidates identify their business strengths and weaknesses, and help prospective entrepreneurs determine if they are qualified for self employment.
The second component guides candidates through a complete process, including forming a business plan, conducting market research and preparing the detailed set of financial statements required to obtain loans from lending institutions.
Drake is also supporting the self employment program with several optional components. Affordable assistance in critical areas such as marketing, finance and legal support will be made available. Local mentoring and regional entrepreneur clubs will help those "going it alone" with important advice and exchanges of ideas. "HOW TO" manuals that address nearly 200 different business operations can also be ordered from Drake and its distributors.
"Most people fail in business due to lack of knowledge and planning, not lack of funding or talent," said Ferrante. "Overall, this is the most complete, affordable and effective program available to the entrepreneur." The skills assessment and the "HOW TO" manuals will be available in April 1992 through a number of distributor organizations throughout the United States as well as directly from Drake headquarters in Bloomington, Minn.
