COMPAQ COMPETITIVE SHOOT-OUT AT PC EXPO
TO DEMO WINDOWS SPEED ON NEW COMPAQ DESKPRO/i
HOUSTON, June 16 -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) will exhibit its new industry-leading products at the PC EXPO trade show in New York City next week, showcasing the impressive speed of the COMPAQ DESKPRO/i versus competitive products when running Microsoft Windows 3.1. The COMPAQ DESKPRO/i, a new COMPAQ desktop line designed to optimize Windows performance, provides up to 10 times the graphics performance of many existing VGA systems.
Compaq's booth will feature its entire new line of aggressively priced PCs, representing 16 products and 41 different models introduced in New York City yesterday. In addition to the COMPAQ DESKPRO/i family, these new products include: the entry-level COMPAQ ProLinea desktops; the COMPAQ Contura notebook PCs; the COMPAQ LTE Lite/25c, Compaq's first active matrix color notebook PC; and a powerful "Windows Edition" version of the top-of-the-line COMPAQ DESKPRO/M family.
Compaq will also exhibit its recently introduced powerful drive- arrayed COMPAQ SYSTEMPRO, NetWare networking products from Compaq, and state-of-the-art server management products and integration tools.
Compaq's booth, its largest ever at PC EXPO, includes a new amphitheater where live theatrical performances will be used to highlight Compaq's new products, pricing and customer support. Colorful Compaq 10th Anniversary T-shirts will be given away to trade show attendees who watch the performance, and Compaq will also have a drawing to give away two of its new high-quality, low-cost notebook PCs, the COMPAQ Contura/25.
