Sustainable Landscape Training - The Oregon State University Extension Service in Lane County will host a Sustainable Landscape training on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its office at 996 Jefferson St. in Eugene. Homeowners can learn to save money on yard maintenance and lessen their impact on the environment. The training includes class work and yard evaluations that can lead to a Sustainable Landscape certification. Participants will learn practices to improve water efficiency, enrich soil quality through mulching and composting, create wildlife habitat, reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers, and protect waterways; cost is $25; information and registration form available at 541-344-5859 or extension.oregonstate.edu/lane/gardens.

Alzheimer's Association - The Oregon chapter will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Willamalane Adult Activity Center, 215 West C St. in Springfield; "The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's" will include information from professionals and firsthand accounts from people diagnosed with Alzheimer's; free; registration is required at 800-272-3900.

Xtracycle Ride Day - 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Arriving By Bike, 2705 Willamette St.; Ross Evans, Xtracycle cargo bike inventor, will show three new styles with electric-assist Bosch motors; try out 10 different models; beverages, snacks and prizes; free; 541-484-5410.
