COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SETTING NEW STANDARDS IN TELEPHONE CALLING

VANCOUVER, Wash., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- "Debit and credit calling cards are just the beginning," said Mike Hutson, vice president of Sales for Communications Product Development Inc. (C.P.D.I.). "As other applications are being discovered, companies are finding our system able to process almost any kind of electronic transaction."
The system is Smart Card, a prepay/postpay card processing software introduced by the company last year. Smart Card customers license the software from C.P.D.I. and receive lifetime support and upgrades as the industry matures. Currently the Smart Card software handles primarily telephone traffic -- but Hutson said the potential possibilities are endless. "Because of the transactional and tracking capabilities of Smart Card, the financial community is beginning to ask a lot of questions. We have been getting quite a few calls from around the world for all sorts of applications." Hutson said the company is currently negotiating with several countries including Russia, India and Canada.
Here in the United States, the company is trying to help in combating the over $4 billion in telephone fraud annually. "Our software can virtually eliminate telephone fraud from a company's bad debt column," said Hutson. One major advantage to the Smart Card platform is the fact that it is comparatively inexpensive to implement. Many 'debit' style calling card systems require a major equipment purchase of proprietary hardware that can be well into the six-figure range. The Smart Card software is designed to run on readily available, off-the-shelf computer and communications hardware.
Russ Davis, C.P.D.I.'s executive marketing director asserted, "We are the only company that I am aware of in this market offering free lifetime software support as well as free system enhancements. In addition, nearly all of Smart Card's features are customer selectable, allowing customers to create system parameters that are unique to their business. With that approach, the customers are certain to get their needs met -- an we have happy, long-term customer relationships."
C.P.D.I.'s Smart Card software currently processes over 1 million minutes of call traffic per month worldwide. C.P.D.I. is a privately held corporation located in Vancouver.
