COMMERCEBANK NAMES RAYMOND E. DELLERBA NEW CEO
UPON RESIGNATION OF CLYDE H. GOSSERT
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Raymond E. Dellerba, president of CommerceBank, has been appointed chief executive officer of the bank, pending regulatory approval. The appointment follows the resignation of Clyde H. Gossert as chairman, chief executive officer and director of the bank and holding company. The announcement was made today by Timothy L. Strader, chairman of the board of CommerceBancorp (NASDAQ-NMS: CBNB), the holding company for the four-branch bank.
In addition, Dellerba will become president and chief executive officer of the holding company while Strader will reassume the chairmanship of the CommerceBank Board of Directors.
Dellerba, 44, was named president in 1990 and has been a director since 1989. He joined CommerceBank nearly nine years ago, becoming executive vice president in 1986. Previously, he had served five years as an office of Imperial Bank, Los Angeles, having begun his banking career in 1971 with Interstate Bank of Arizona, Phoenix. Dellerba lives in Dana Point, Calif., with his wife and two children.
Strader said, "Ray Dellerba has been a member of our management team for nearly nine years. We are confident that he will be able to meet the many challenges facing all banks during these difficult times."
CommerceBank began operations in early 1979. In 1987, CommerceBancorp was incorporated as a holding company and acquired 100 percent of the bank's common stock. In 1990, it acquired California City Bank, Orange, Calif., expanding bank services into central and north Orange County. CommerceBank maintains other regional branches in Long Beach, the South Coast Metro area and is headquartered in Newport Beach near Orange County John Wayne Airport.
