COMING TO AMERICA...CHILDREN'S SUPERSTAR XUXA, A FASHION DOLL FIRST

NEW YORK, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Brazil's most popular recording star and children's entertainer will appear as a fashion doll across the nation this fall, the same time the her extraordinarily successful children's series premieres in the United States.
An 11-1/2 inch, "fashion doll" replica of Latin American superstar XUXA (pronounced "Shoo-Sha") has made her debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York City, (XUXA doll prototypes are on display for media and buyers Feb. 8-17, Rose Art Show Room 1258, 200 Fifth Avenue.)
Toy manufacturing Rose Art Industries is basing its XUXA doll on a sculpture of the entertainer's face, and recreating for the doll the elaborate fashions the entertainment wears on her show.
"Rose Art's XUXA doll will be a fashion doll first," said Rose Art president and CEO Lawrence Rosen. "Unlike other fashion dolls, our 11- 1/2 inch XUXA doll is based on a real, charismatic and colorful children's entertainer -- a woman with real features, talents and concerns."
Rose Art's XUXA doll - in variety of styles - will hit retailers' shelves worldwide this fall when MTM Television Distribution launches its English version of XUXA's children's show. The fully "poseable" doll will range in price from $5.99 for XUXA in a trendy outfit to $24.99 for XUXA in an elaborate costume or with accessories. The XUXA doll line will be an ever-expanding, multi-dimensional toy line, complete with a full range of fashions, themes, styles and accessories.
Already a phenomenon in 15 countries, XUXA reaches an estimated 50 million children each week through her daily broadcasts. As the number one recording star in Brazil for the past five years, her six albums have sold in excess of 15 million copies, and her live concerts average 40,000 fans. People magazine named her one of the world's most beautiful people, and she is the first Latin American to crack Forbes Magazine's list of the 40 highest paid entertainers.
XUXA's service to children on and off the screen is widely recognized. At her XUXA Meneghel foundation in Brazil, she shelters, feeds and educates 250 poor children. She has already extended her philanthropy to needy children in the U.S. with a sizable contribution to the Miami Hurricane Relief Fund.
Rose Art Industries is a 70-year-old, family-owned toy and stationary company. Rose Art's XUXA doll represents the company's first venture into the multi-billion dollar fashion doll business.
