 COMIC RELIEF BENEFIT HELD FOR PHILADELPHIA
 HEALTH CARE FOR THE HOMELESS PROGRAM
 PHILADELPHIA, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- On Thursday, April 23, a Comic Relief benefit entitled "Laugh for a Cause" raised more than $20,000 for Philadelphia's Health Care for the Homeless Program, administered by the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation (PHMC).
 The benefit comedy show was held at the University of Pennsylvania's Irvine Auditorium at 8 p.m. and featured Comedy Central's Allen Havey, Def Comedy Jam's Keith Robinson and Philadelphia's own Kevin Sullivan.
 Prior to the comedy show, a reception was held at the International House for all corporate sponsors of Comic Relief including ACME, Independence Blue Cross, Bell of PA, CoreStates and Suburban Cable TV. Bob Zmuda, president of Comic Relief, and Havey attended the reception to thank all contributors for their commitment to the Heath Care for the Homeless Program. Richard J. Cohen, Ph.D., president of PHMC, read a proclamation awarded by Edward G. Rendell, mayor of Philadelphia, recognizing the efforts of the Philadelphia Comic Relief Committee to improve the lives of homeless people.
 Members of the Philadelphia Comic Relief Planning Committee include representatives from Home Box Office, Comcast Cablevision, Greater Media Cable, Wade Communications, The Comedy Works, Stand-Up Against Homelessness and PHMC. 1992 Comic Relief activities continue with a benefit show at The Comedy Works on Thursday, May 14. The national HBO telethon will be held in Los Angeles on May 16.
 The Philadelphia Health Care for the Homeless Program works to improve the health of homeless people by increasing their ability to return to the mainstream of society. The program is staffed with nurses, physicians, social workers and outreach workers deployed in shelters, day programs, feeding programs and on the street to reach homeless people in need.
 PHMC is a non-profit public health organization that conducts research and evaluates programs, provides management and technical assistance services for others in the health care system, and provides specialized direct service in the community.
