COLUMBIA HOSPITAL NAMED TO FORTUNE'S LIST
OF FASTEST GROWING COMPANIES IN AMERICA
FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- In it's annual ranking of America's fastest growing companies, Fortune magazine named Columbia Hospital Corporation (NASDAQ: CHOS) the fourth fastest-growing publicly traded company in the United States. Fortune's ranking is based on Columbia's annual sales growth, which the magazine calculated at 173 percent.
"Our success has, in large part, been a result of focusing our efforts on our strategy of building a network of facilities in key markets to gain market share, as well as working closely with our medical staffs and employees," said Richard L. Scott, chairman and CEO.
Columbia's strategy is to become a significant, comprehensive provider of high quality health care services in targeted metropolitan markets. The company has a proven track record in successfully implementing this strategy in five markets: El Paso, Houston, and Corpus Christi, Texas, and Miami and Fort Myers, Florida. Columbia is the largest provider of health care in three of those markets, El Paso, Miami and Ft. Myers.
Based in Fort Worth, Columbia Hospital Corporation now operates 21 general acute-care hospitals and two psychiatric hospitals with 4,576 licensed beds. Columbia also operates various related health care delivery businesses in its markets, including outpatient diagnostic centers, outpatient physical therapy centers, outpatient surgery centers, a cardiac rehabilitation/wellness center, lithotripsy services, medical rehabilitation services and an outpatient radiation therapy center.
