 COLUMBIA HOSPITAL ANNOUNCES GROWTH IN FIRST QUARTER PATIENT VOLUMES
 FORT WORTH, Texas, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Hospital Corporation (NASDAQ: CHOS) today announced its operating statistics for the first quarter of 1992. The figures show continued growth in patient volumes over 1991 levels.
 The following table summarizes selected comparative key operating statistics for the quarters ended March 31, 1992 and 1991:

 The 11 hospitals Columbia owned for the entire first quarters of both 1992 and 1991 also showed strong patient volume growth. The following table summarizes selected comparative key operating statistics on a same-hospital basis for the quarters ended March 31, 1992 and 1991.

 Columbia expects to release its first quarter earnings during the first week of May.
 Columbia currently operates 11 general, acute-care hospitals and two psychiatric hospitals, with 2,815 licensed beds in five markets. Columbia also operates various related businesses in its markets, including outpatient diagnostic centers, outpatient physical therapy centers, outpatient surgery centers, cardiac rehabilitation/wellness center, mobile lithotripsy services and an outpatient radiation therapy center. Additionally, Columbia owns Sutter Corporation, a medical products company that manufactures and distributes medical and surgical products, primarily continuous passive motion devices.
