COLUMBIA GAS OF OHIO NAMES SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing the moves by Columbia Gas of Ohio to position itself as a strong, aggressive competitor in the fast-changing energy marketplace, President and CEO Robert C. Skaggs today named three key executives to senior vice president positions.

Promoted to the newly created positions are James R. Lee, executive vice president; Dennis W. McFarland, vice president of corporate planning; and John W. Partridge Jr., vice president of regulatory policy and planning/governmental affairs.

According to Skaggs: "These changes are designed to achieve a more flexible management approach while flattening the reporting structure of the organization. Our goal is to take maximum advantage of opportunities to provide better, more value-added services to customers, while increasing our operating efficiencies."

Under the new structure, which is effective immediately, Lee will oversee Engineering, Environmental Affairs, Marketing, Gas Supply, and Demand Forecasting, and on an interim basis, General Services.

As part of his duties, Lee will coordinate efforts within the Columbia Gas System to capitalize on the organization's operational and engineering expertise through new ventures aimed at both domestic and international markets.

McFarland will assume responsibility for several areas including Financial Planning and Analysis; Accounting, Tax and Risk Management; and Office Operations and Treasury while continuing to oversee Corporate Planning and Business Intelligence. Information Services will also report to him on an interim basis.

Partridge will maintain responsibility for Regulatory Policy and Planning/Governmental Affairs, and will also oversee Communications and Consumer Affairs as well as Regulatory Services.

Other members of the senior management team are General Counsel and Secretary Andrew J. Sonderman, Human Resources Vice President Arnold T. Chonko, and Richard A. Newbold, vice president and general manager of the southern region, and Jerry A. Tischer, northern region vice president and general manager.

Skaggs announced that Sheila A. Castellarin, vice president of communications and consumer affairs, will assume the newly created position of Vice President of Community Affairs, reporting to him.

Lee has 35 years experience with Columbia Gas in a variety of positions. An Athens, Ohio native, he holds a degree in civil engineering from Ohio University.

McFarland, who earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's from Northwestern University, began his Columbia career in 1978.

Partridge, who joined Columbia Gas in 1977, graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor's degree in communications.
