COLUMBIA ALUMINUM CORP. ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF KETEMA

VANCOUVER, Wash., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Aluminum Corp. announced today that its subsidiary has reached an agreement in principle to acquire the major aluminum extrusion division assets of Ketema Inc. Ketema currently operates two extrusion plants located in Watsonville and Los Angeles, Calif. Columbia Aluminum is an integrated aluminum producer with extrusion plants located in City of Industry and Modesto.
Ken Peterson Jr., chief executive officer of Columbia Aluminum, said that "combining Ketema's extrusion business with Columbia's is a natural and strategic fit. The four plants, while similar, serve different customers and have different production capabilities. For example, Columbia has extensive painting capability which Ketema customers have not been able to obtain in-house. Similarly, Ketema has excellent Brite Dip Anodizing capacity which will, for the first time, now be available in-house to Columbia customers.
"Columbia believes this combination of assets within Columbia will have a very positive impact on all of our old and new customers. Ketema has shared our commitments to quality and customer responsiveness and we look forward to providing enhanced services because of this acquisition."
Columbia Aluminum Corp. engages in manufacturing both primary and secondary aluminum. The company, including its subsidiaries and affiliates, smelts, recycles, extrudes, fabricates and distributes aluminum, aluminum alloys and their associated products from facilities in Washington, Oregon, California, Texas and Kentucky.
