 COLTEC INDUSTRIES ELECTS TWO OUTSIDE DIRECTORS
 NEW YORK, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Joel Moses, dean of the School of


Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral J. Bradford Mooney Jr. have been elected to the Coltec Industries Inc (NYSE: COT) board of directors, the company announced today.
 Moses, 50, joined the faculty at MIT in 1967 as an assistant professor of electrical engineering and was named a full professor in 1977. He was head of the department of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT and was a visiting professor at Harvard Business School prior to being named dean of the MIT School of Engineering in 1991.
 Moses led the development of MACSYMA, a software system that automates various forms of mathematics including calculus. He was a member of the National Research Council's Manufacturing Studies Board from 1986 until 1991. He has performed research on manufacturing processes, product design and the organizational structures of industrial firms.
 Moses in 1962 was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics by Columbia University, a master of arts degree in mathematics in 1963 by Columbia University, and a doctorate degree in mathematics by MIT in 1967.
 Admiral Mooney, 61, has been involved in a number of marine research organizations following a 34-year career with the U.S. Navy. His naval career included a four-year assignment as chief of naval research. In this position, Mooney managed annual budgets exceeding $1 billion, worked closely with U.S. Government research and development organizations, and consulted with science advisors to President Reagan.
 Significant accomplishments during his naval career included piloting the bathyscaphe Trieste II in 1964 to a depth of 8,200 feet to locate the hull of the sunken submarine Thresher and commanding a 1972 task group that recovered a classified object from three miles deep in the Pacific Ocean.
 Mooney was awarded a bachelor of science degree in 1953 by the U.S. Naval Academy and studied management at George Washington University in the 1970s. He also participated in Harvard University's National and International Security Program in 1980.
 Coltec Industries Inc is a New York-based manufacturing company with revenues of approximately $1.4 billion serving aerospace, automotive and other industrial markets.
