COLLINS & AIKMAN GROUP SELLS ENGINEERING GROUP TO TELEFLEX INCORPORATED

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Collins & Aikman Group, Inc. today announced that it has sold its Engineering Group to Teleflex Incorporated (AMEX: TFX). Collins & Aikman's cash proceeds from the transaction, before transaction expenses and including cash generated by the Engineering business, totalled approximately $51 million.
 The Engineering Group, based in Manchester, Conn., serves the commercial and military aviation and other industrial markets through its Mal Tool & Engineering, Cepco and Klock divisions. Mal Tool & Engineering produces prototype and production parts for aircraft engines. Cepco performs surface finishing for jet engine parts, and Klock performs heat treating, brazing, coating and testing services for parts with commercial and military aviation and other industrial applications. Sales of the Engineering Group in 1992 were approximately $58 million.
 Collins & Aikman Group, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Collins & Aikman Holdings Corporation, owns Collins & Aikman Corporation, which manufactures and distributes automotive textiles, decorative upholstery fabrics, commercial floorcoverings and wallcoverings; Kayser Roth Corporation, which manufactures and markets brand name and private label women's and men's hosiery, including the "No Nonsense" and "Burlington" brands; and Builders Emporium, which operates do-it-yourself retail home centers. Collins & Aikman Holdings Corporation is jointly owned by Blackstone Capital Partners L.P. and Wasserstein Perella Partners, L.P. and their respective affiliates.
