COLLEGE OF PHARMACY NAMES REVCO PRESIDENT D. DWAYNE HOVEN RETAIL EXECUTIVE 1994 MAN OF THE YEAR

 BROOKLYN, N.Y., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- D. Dwayne Hoven, president and chief executive officer of Revco Drug Stores, Inc. (NYSE: RXR), has been selected to receive the 1994 Man of the Year Award from the Retail Drug Institute of the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, during a testimonial dinner at the Waldorf Astoria, New York City, October 11, 1994.
 In announcing the selection, Stephen Gross, dean of the College, noted that Hoven is an astute businessman who is credited with bringing Revco to new prominence in the chain drug industry. Under his leadership, Revco has recognized the role of the pharmacist as the primary health practitioner in the community, and the company is providing pharmacists with the tools to fulfill that role.
 Hoven joined Revco in 1987 as senior vice president of distribution. He is now responsible for providing executive management for the company and for strategic corporate planning. Revco operates more than 1,200 drug stores and has annual sales of $2.4 billion.
 Serving as general chair of the event is Jerry B. Gilbert, vice president, consumer sector, customer relations, Johnson & Johnson. Co-chairs are Robert J. Kwait, president, Robert J. Kwait and Associates, Inc., and Morry Weiss, chairman and CEO, American Greetings Corporation.
 The Retail Drug Institute (RDI) is an academic and service unit of the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Through scholarships, certificates and continuing education programs, the RDI enhances the preparation of students and practitioners for entrepreneurial and management roles in retail pharmacy practice areas.
