COLLEGE EDUCATION PAYS OFF IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE

TORRANCE, Calif., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota has a graduation "present" for the more than 1 million college students earning a degree this year.
The Toyota dealerbody, through its financial source Toyota Motor Credit Corp., is offering a special program that will make it easier for those who have sweated through four years at an accredited college or university or have earned a registered nursing degree to purchase a new car or truck.
Toyota's 1993 College Graduate Finance Plan enables qualified graduates to purchase a new Toyota or Lexus with no money down and defer their first car payment for 90 days. In addition, they'll get a special financing rate.
 To be qualified, grads must:
-- Furnish proof of present employment or future employment which will begin within 120 days of loan approval with a salary sufficient to cover ordinary living expenses and vehicle payments; and
-- Have proof of insurability and no negative credit history.
"Next to a full-time job, obtaining a new car is a high priority among new college grads," said Yale Gieszl, executive vice president of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc. "Our College Graduate Financing Plan will make buying a new vehicle easier for young men and women starting their professional careers."
Toyota is making sure that the Class of '93 gets the message on the special program through a target marketing program. More than 850,000 direct-mail brochures are being sent to graduating seniors, nursing students, graduate students and parents of selected seniors. Thirteen thousand posters are being distributed to college campuses and special advertising is appearing in national college publications through June.
For more details, graduates can contact their local Toyota or Lexus dealer, or call a special toll-free number, 800-5-COLLEGE. All new Toyota and Lexus vehicles, including dealer demonstrators with 10,000 or less miles, are included in the program.
For grads who prefer to lease a new Toyota or Lexus vehicle, the requirement of a security deposit will be waived.
