COLLEGE BASEBALL NOTEBOOK: LMU'S STEVENS EARNS SHUTOUT.

Jeff Stevens threw a shutout to lead host Loyola Marymount to a 7-0 victory over San Francisco on Sunday. Stevens (4-0) allowed seven hits and struck out five.

A.J. LaMonda went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI for LMU.

--Cal 3, UCLA 2 Preston Griffin and Mike Svetlic had RBI singles for the visiting Bruins.

--Oregon State 8, USC 4Blake Sharpe went 3 for 5 with an RBI, but the host Trojans committed five errors and slipped into a tie for third place in the Pacific-10 Conference with Oregon State.

--UC Riverside 18, CS Northridge 6 Michael Paulk hit his Big West Conference-leading 10th home run of the season for the visiting Matadors.

--Gonzaga 10, Pepperdine 3 The host Waves left 11 runners on base and wasted three hits apiece from David Uribes, Steve Kleen, Brent Lewis and Patrick Rooney.
