 COLE TO HEAD AETNA HEALTH PLANS' CENTRAL REGION
 HARTFORD, Conn., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- James W. McLane, chief


executive officer, Aetna Health Plans, has announced the appointment of John P. Cole as senior vice president, Central Region, based in Chicago.
 Cole, 50, will join AHP from Lincoln National Life Insurance Co., where he serves as executive vice president and chief executive officer of the company's Employee Benefits Division. Cole will join Aetna upon completion of Lincoln's divestiture of its group health and managed care operations. He will have full responsibility for all of AHP's health plans business in the Central Region.
 "John is a veteran of the managed care business," McLane said. "His expertise in building integrated, broadly based managed care businesses in local markets and his outstanding management skills will be a vital asset to Aetna Health Plans in the Central Region."
 Cole worked for Prudential Insurance Company of America for 20 years in a number of sales, managerial, and executive positions. In 1985 he joined AMI as the first president of its managed care subsidiary. Cole served Blue Cross of California from 1986 to 1988 as executive vice president of the company's Employee Benefits Division.
 Cole holds a B.A. in history and English from the University of Florida and is a chartered life underwriter. He is married and has two children.
