ATLANTA, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Betty Cohen has been named

executive vice president of Turner Broadcasting's worldwide cartoon network, it was announced today.
Cohen will be responsible for all aspects of operations, programming and development for the network. The worldwide cable service recently was approved by the Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (AMEX: TBS.A) board of directors and is expected to launch later this year.
"Betty was instrumental to the launch of TNT in 1988 and since has been one of the key people responsible for the network's success," said Scott Sassa, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. She joined TNT as director of creative services during the planning stages of the cable service, where she developed the initial blueprint for TNT's on-air look and established the network's creative services and marketing departments.
Prior to that, Cohen was director of on-air promotion for Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite in New York. She also served as a writer-producer of on-air promotion for Cable Health Network and as managing senior producer of on-air promotion for Lifetime Television. She began her career as a broadcast producer for Public Media Center in San Francisco.
