 COGNITRONICS AWARDED $1.2 MILLION CONTRACT BY NORTHERN TELECOM
 STAMFORD, Conn., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cognitronics Corporation (AMEX: CGN) said today it has signed an exclusive $1.2 million contract with Northern Telecom, Inc., to supply voice announcement systems.
 Northern Telecom will install the Cognitronics' McIAS(TM) digital voice announcement systems on all its new DMS-10(TM) central office switching systems or as upgrades on its installed base of DMS-10s. The initial order for the Cognitronics systems runs through December 1992.
 "We're pleased that Northern Telecom has selected us to supply our McIAS systems for its telephone switching equipment," according to Matthew J. Flanigan, president and chief executive officer of Cognitronics. "We take this contract as yet another vote of confidence in our McIAS line of voice processing products."
 The Cognitronics products will enable Northern Telecom customers to offer CLASS features, including selective call rejection, selective call forwarding and automatic callback.
 Other features include standard telephone network intercept, changed number and automatic number announcement services.
 Northern Telecom is a leading telecommunications research and manufacturing firm.
 Cognitronics is a leading manufacturer and supplier of voice equipment, including telephone network announcement products and interactive voice reponse (IVR) systems, to telephone operating companies, original equipment manufacturers and commercial end-users. Cognitronics also manufactures optical scanning and image processing systems and precision machined parts.
 NOTE: McIAS is a trademark used by Cognitronics Corporation. DMS-10 is a registered trademark used by Northern Telecom, Inc.
