COASTAL STATES MANAGEMENT NAMES VICE PRESIDENT OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

 HOUSTON, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Clayton C. Taylor has been elected vice president of government affairs for Coastal States Management Corporation, a subsidiary of The Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP). He will have responsibility for state government relations and Coastal's government affairs offices in Houston, Detroit, Colorado Springs, Colo., Albany, N.Y., Madison, Wis. and Aruba.
 Taylor, 41, joined Coastal in 1991 as vice president of corporate affairs for Coastal Aruba Refining Company N.V., in San Nicolas, Aruba. He directed government, community, media and employee relations.
 Prior to Coastal, Taylor worked for Phillips Petroleum.
 He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
 Taylor and his wife, Marnie, and their sons, Clay, 7, and Clark, 5, will ultimately reside in Houston.
 The Coastal Corporation is a Houston-based energy holding company. Coastal has consolidated assets of more than $10 billion and subsidiary operations in natural gas marketing, transmission and storage, petroleum refining and marketing, oil and gas exploration and production, coal, chemicals, trucking and independent power production.
