 COASTAL NAMES SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION
 HOUSTON, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP) announced today that Jerry D. Bullock has been elected senior vice president, exploration and production.
 Before joining Coastal, Bullock worked as an independent petroleum consultant for several major exploration companies, focusing primarily on international projects.
 From 1987 to 1990, Bullock was an executive vice president with British Petroleum's BP Exploration Company. His organization was responsible for producing more than 750,000 barrels of oil daily in the Western Hemisphere. He also was a director and member of the management committee of BP Exploration USA.
 From 1985 to 1987 he served as senior vice president-production for Sohio Petroleum Company, with responsibility for drilling and production activities in North America.
 Bullock served from 1981 to 1985 as general manager-production, president, chief operating officer and director of Superior Oil International in Houston, at that time one of America's largest independent petroleum companies.
 Prior to 1981, Bullock worked for Exxon, completing his career in Houston as headquarters operations manager, with line management responsibility for Exxon's domestic production operations and direct supervision of the company's division managers and a headquarters staff.
 At Exxon he held a variety of executive, management and engineering positions, including vice president and director of Esso Exploration, Inc., from 1974-1979; western division manager for Exxon from 1972 to 1974 in Los Angeles; and division operations manager in New Orleans, from 1971 to 1972.
 Bullock holds bachelor's degrees in both petroleum engineering and geology from Louisiana State University, awarded in 1951 and 1952 respectively.
 He currently lives in Houston with his wife, Frances.
