COASTAL INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION FUELS TO COLORADO MARKETS
HOUSTON, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Coastal Mart, Inc., a subsidiary of the Coastal Corporation (NYSE: CGP), has introduced its new clean-burning Next Generation Fuels to Colorado markets. Oxygenated to reduce carbon monoxide emissions by as much as 25 percent, the fuels have already been well received in Kansas, where they were introduced in fall 1991.
"Customers surveyed in Coastal's key markets told us that the ideal gasoline should reduce air pollution, clean their engines, boost power and cost no more than the lowest priced gasolines available," said James R. Paul, Coastal's president and chief executive officer. "Coastal's Next Generation Fuels meet those standards."
Next Generation Fuels contain special detergent additives to clean dirty fuel injectors and intake valves, increasing performance. Three grades, Regular Unleaded (85 octane), Unleaded Plus (88 octane) and Unleaded Premium (91 octane), are now available at most locations. For cars that can't use unleaded gas, a Next Generation Regular, at 88 octane with a detergent additive, is also being offered at select stations.
Coastal's 10 percent blended ethanol Next Generation gasolines are approved by every major auto manufacturer in the world. Coastal Mart will sell its Next Generation Fuels through company-operated service stations and convenience stores throughout Colorado.
The Coastal Corporation is a Houston-based energy holding company. It has consolidated assets of $9 billion and subsidiary operations in natural gas transmission and storage, refining and marketing, oil and gas exploration and production, coal, chemicals, trucking and independent power production.
