COAS underscores need to further step up peace process in Afghanistan.

RAWALPINDI -- Afghan Defence Minister Bismillah Mohammadi on Monday called on Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani and discussed with him issues of bilateral interest, war against terrorism, security situation and other matters in length.

According to sources, they reviewed ongoing military operations in Afghanistan and in the tribal areas of Pakistan.

COAS Kayani and Afghan Defence Minister Bismillah Mohammadi agreed to continue cooperation for enduring success, peace and stability on both sides of the border.

Gen Kayani also underscored the need to further step up the peace process in Afghanistan.

Gen Kayani described peace and stability in Afghanistan in the interest of Pakistan and insisted that Pakistan supported every effort for peace and security.
