CNS, INC. REPORTS SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

 MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- CNS, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNXS) today reported sales for the second quarter ended June 30, 1993, of $1,793,732 up from $1,201,767 for the same period of 1992. The net loss for the quarter was $474,771 or $.07 per share, compared to a net loss of $675,470 or $.11 per share for the second quarter of 1992.
 For the six months ended June 30, 1993, sales were $3,718,592 compared to $3,242,741 for the first half of 1992. A net loss of $638,419 or $.10 per share was reported for the first half of 1993 versus a net loss of $766,021 or $.13 per share for the comparable period of 1992.
 Richard E. Jahnke, president and chief operating officer, said that revenues for the second quarter reflected a significant increase in sales for the company's sleep disorder diagnostic products over the first half of 1992 largely due to market acceptance of the new products that were introduced during the quarter. The operating expenses for the quarter included one-time charges to earnings associated with costs to accelerate the development and introduction of new sleep diagnostic products.
 CNS, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets computer-based medical diagnostic devices used principally to test for sleep related disorders such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy.
