CNN.COM TO BE PREMIER BROADCAST NEW PROVIDER ON NETSCAPE NETCENTER & ON ICQ.

Building on a series of commercial agreements and announcements made on January 10 at the announcement of the merger agreement between the two companies, America Online Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, and Time Warner, the world's leading media company, announced that CNN Interactive will be the premier broadcast news partner for Netscape Netcenter, a leading Internet service, and for ICQ, the world's largest online communications community.

Bob Pittman, President and COO of AOL, said: "As we move forward with the merger of AOL and Time Warner to create the world's first fully integrated Internet-powered media and communications company for the Internet Age, today's announcements are great examples of the quick synergies we can achieve together and the beginning of what we already know will be an extraordinary partnership.

According to the 1999 AOL-Roper Starch Cyberstudy, 70 percent of all online consumers regularly or occasionally get their news online.

By extending its CNN Interactive content offerings to the 25 million registered users of Netcenter and the more than 50 million registered users of ICQ, Time Warner will increase the reach of CNN's extremely popular news brand, and America Online will gain world-class news content for its popular Web-based properties.

The new agreement will give Netscape Netcenter users full access to CNN.com's top headlines, and to CNN's pre-eminent online news services, as part of their daily Internet experience.

As Netcenter's premier broadcast news partner, CNN will be prominently featured on the Netcenter service, and will have a permanent presence on the Netcenter homepage, where users can directly link to CNN.com stories in the Netcenter News Channel. Netcenter users will soon have the option of adding the CNN.com service directly to there customized My Netscape news channel.

Under a separate agreement, ICQ, the world's largest online communications community, and CNN Interactive will develop a co-branded news offering to be distributed through ICQ's Website and the ICQ client.

This agreement gives CNN a prominent presence on ICQ's News Channel, and establishes CNN Interactive as the primary news content provider for ICQ's community of more than 50 million registered users, more than two- thirds of whom live outside the United States.
