CMS ENHANCEMENTS APPOINTS NEW PRESIDENT; COMPANY ALSO ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF TWO NEW SUBSIDIARIES

IRVINE, Calif., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- CMS Enhancements Inc., a global producer of computer technology accessories and mass storage subsystems, today announced that founder Jim Farooquee has appointed Michael J. Rusert president and chief operating officer. Farooquee will retain the positions of chairman of the board and chief executive officer. Concurrently, CMS announced the formation of two subsidiary companies, AnyBus Technology Corp. and CDS Distribution Inc.
Farooquee, who founded CMS in 1983, has lead CMS to two consecutive profitable quarters in 1992 after a general decline in the mass storage industry in the 1990s. In turning over responsibility for day-to-day operations to Rusert, Farooquee will be able to concentrate his efforts on exploring new global business opportunities and structuring the management team for CMS' two new subsidiaries.
Rusert has served as vice president of marketing and OEM Sales at CMS for more than a year. "Mike played a substantial role in reducing the company's expenses, redefining our corporate goals and redirecting the company's product focus from low-capacity commodity drives to high-capacity, leading edge technologies," said Farooquee. He pointed to CMS' recently released Platinum RAID 5 Disk Array and soon-to-be-released CD-ROM and magneto optical drives as affirmation of this new product direction.
Prior to joining CMS, Rusert held vice president positions in sales, marketing and operations at Inacom Computer Centers, a $1.5 billion national reseller and distributor. He also had a leadership role in launching and later heading up Inacom's successful Computer City venture.
"The new business structure establishes a foundation for focused growth in our core business while we position our products for multimedia, network and CAD markets," said Rusert. "The two new subsidiaries will also allow us to leverage opportunities in other segments of the industry."
 AnyBus Technology and CDS Distribution
The two subsidiaries will have a symbiotic relationship with CMS, yet each will have its own market focus. AnyBus Technology's flagship product is an innovative local bus-ready and upgradeable motherboard that features a universal adapter that offers a practical solution to the confusion caused by the conflicting local bus standards, VESA's VL-Bus and Intel's PCI.
"CDS Distribution will function separately as a value-added distributor of numerous products to vertical markets," explained Rusert. "In the future, we foresee both CDS and AnyBus Technology growing, possibly through third-party ventures."
Reorganization plans, including the announcement of management teams for AnyBus Technology and CDS Distribution, are anticipated within the next few weeks. CMS has not made any additional changes to the board of directors and has no plans to reduce its current staff. As the reorganization plan is formalized, the company will redirect and reassign personnel within the overall corporation.
CMS Enhancements, headquartered in Irvine, is a $115 million, public company servicing more than 1,600 resellers and distributors in more than 60 countries. In addition to being a leading developer, designer and marketer of value-added products and accessories for the personal and laptop computer industry, CMS is a global producer of a broad line of high capacity mass storage subsystems, ranging from disk arrays to CD-ROM and magneto optical products.
