CMS ENERGY ANNOUNCES LARGEST POWER PLANT FINANCING IN ARGENTINE

 DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- CMS Energy Corporation's (NYSE: CMS) independent power unit, CMS Generation Co., today announced that Hidroelectrica El Chocon (El Chocon), a 1,320-megawatt hydroelectric facility in Argentina, and The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A., on Dec. 27, 1993, closed the largest and longest-term non-recourse loan transaction for a private company in South America in the last 10 years. The two tranche, $260.1 million loan has a 10-year amortization period.
 CMS Generation Co. holds an approximate 15-percent ownership interest in El Chocon. The Chilean electric company Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A. (Endesa), the Argentine province of Neuquen, BEA Associates and Sawgrass Limited are the other investors in the facility. As a result of its interests in El Chocon and the San Nicolas fossil- fueled generating facility in Argentina, CMS Generation is now the second-largest private owner of electric generating facilities in Argentina behind only Endesa, Chile.
 CMS Generation Co. is the independent power production unit of CMS Energy Corporation. CMS is one of the nation's top five independent power producers with interests in 3,570 megawatts from 10 operating power plants in the United States and South America. CMS Energy was the lead developer of the Midland Cogeneration Venture (MCV), a 1,370- megawatt cogeneration facility in Midland, Mich., the largest such project in operation in North America.
