CMM8 Big Converting Show To Open In Chicago

A focus on the environment and its impact on the packaging and converting business appears to be the dominant theme as CMM8 International, the Converting Machinery Materials Conference and Exhibition, opens this month in Chicago's McCormick Place.

Scheduled for April 21-25, the show will feature more than 450 exhibitors in fields as diverse as nonwovens, paper, film and foil, including raw materials, machinery and converting services suppliers. According to promotional literature, more than 800 new products and equipment are scheduled to be launched during the four days of CMM8.

Many of these new products that deal with nonwovens are highlighted in these next few pages.

Edward Fox, associate director for corporate packaging at Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati,OH, will address the environmental movement, "green" marketing and how they present challenges and opportunities for converters during his keynote speech to open CMM8 on Monday, April 22. Mr. Fox will discuss how converters can modify their operations and products to help packaging companies produce more environmentally positive packages. He will also overview recommended solutions to the solid waste problem and detail the work being done by P&G - which was the 1990 recipient of the Packaging Leader of the Year Award from the Packaging Education Foundation - in designing and developing packaging utilizing these solutions now and into the year 2000.
