 CME SHATTERS ALL-TIME SINGLE-DAY VOLUME RECORD
 CHICAGO, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- With 947,957 futures contracts


and options trading on Friday, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) registered the biggest single day in its 72-year history. The exchange's prior single-day total-volume mark, 859,956, was set on Aug. 11, 1989.
 Ten additional CME records, eight volume and two open-interest, also fell on Friday. A total of 759,567 futures contracts traded, breaking the old record, 758,230, also set on Aug. 11, 1989. Likewise, the interest-rate quadrant established three new marks, in combined futures and options at 661,094, in futures at 534,954 and in futures options at 126,140. Prior interest-rate product volume records were 569,548 (Aug. 11, 1989), 529,954 (Aug. 11, 1989) and 109,946 (Dec. 20, 1991), respectively.
 Eurodollar trading accounted for four additional records: total futures at 521,340, total futures options at 125,595, calls on Eurodollar options at 69,170 and puts on Eurodollar options at 56,425. Old marks were 518,400 (Aug. 11, 1989), 109,383 (Dec. 20, 1991), 57,396 (Dec. 20, 1991) and 51,987 (Dec. 20, 1991).
 Two open-interest records, in Eurodollar calls (315,352 positions) and pork belly calls (7,772 positions), rounded out the day. Old marks were 311,237 (Dec. 16, 1991) and 7,758 (Jan. 9, 1992).
