CME ADVERTISING WINS 'BEST OF SHOW'
FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR AT 1992 CADDY AWARDS
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Campbell-Mithun-Esty Advertising was honored with "Best of Show" at the 18th annual Caddy Awards Friday night at the Fox Theatre, for a television ad campaign created to introduce Chrysler Corporation's new Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is the second straight year that CME has taken home the coveted "Best of Show" trophy.
The Caddy Awards, sponsored by the Detroit Creative Directors Council, recognizes creative excellence within the Detroit advertising community.
This year's top winners were part of a totally integrated marketing campaign created by CME to launch The New Jeep, including TV, print, direct mail, catalogs, and merchandising materials.
The winning TV campaign, which consisted of a series of five spots, "Desert," "Polar Ice Cap," "Latitude," "Waterfall," and "Breathe Easier," won the overall "Best of Show," as well as "Best of Category" for television/automotive advertising. "Latitude" and "Waterfall" were also awarded individual Gold awards in the television/automotive single unit :30 category. In addition, the entire campaign was given a Gold award in the television/automotive ad campaign category.
CME's creative team responsible for the campaign included Gary Topolewski, Mike Stocker, and John Curtis, copywriters; Paul Szary, Dan Willey, Mike Pascale, and Andy Ozark, art directors; and Paul Saylor and John Van Osdol, producers. Gary Topolewski was creative director.
This year, a total of 18 Golds were awarded. CME took home seven of those, more than any other agency. In addition, CME won 10 Silver awards and 20 Merits.
Commercials created by CME for other clients were also honored. A Silver award was presented for "Lucky," a spot for Jackson, Mich.-based Consumers Power Company. CME's Andy Ozark was art director, Carol Joseph was copywriter, and Jim Brown was producer for the winning commercial.
Besides Chrysler Corporation's Jeep and Eagle Division and Consumers Power Company, other CME/Detroit clients include 28 Jeep and Eagle dealer associations, four Century 21 regional offices, Philips Business Systems Company, and the Vietnam Monument Commission.
Earlier this month, CME announced the formation of a new international agency network with London-based KHBB. Effective Oct. 1, CME becomes CME KHBB, the world's 17th-largest advertising agency, with billings of $1.2 billion, and offices in 36 locations.
