CLUB MED-TURKOISE CELEBRATES THE 70's IN SEPTEMBER; VILLAGE PEOPLE & THE TRAMMPS DISCO AT CLUB MED

NEW YORK, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Catch "Saturday Night Fever" every night in September at Club Med-Turkoise, on the balmy island of Providenciales (Turks & Caicos Islands), where a beautiful turquoise sea encircles brilliant white beaches. Here, a 70's musical tribute will be held from September 2 through September 23. Live performances by musical groups such as The Village People ("YMCA," "Macho Man"), The Trammps ("Disco Inferno," "Hold Back the Night"), Henry Gross ("Shannon") and others will be featured. A host of some of the 70's more colorful TV personalities will also be on hand including: Barry Williams, "Greg" from "The Brady Bunch," Ron Pallilo, the inimitable "Arnold Horshack" from "Welcome Back Kotter" and Lyle Waggoner, the leading man on "The Carol Burnett Show" and "Wonder Woman." Together they will share their experiences and reminiscents, perform and be available for Q&A, or photograph/autograph sessions. In the Club's disco, celebrity disc jockeys such as Paco, one of the top 70's D.J.'s on WKTU-Disco '92, will recreate the ambiance and sounds of this bell-bottoms decade with the help of Rhino Records. All performances and special events are included free of charge.
The total cost for a week of 70's entertainment and fun, accommodations, all meals, airfare, sports with instruction and equipment is $1,330 from New York and $1,220 from Miami. More than 70 cities across the United States offer connecting air service to the Club's flights to Providenciales.
Water sports at Turkoise are the best. There is windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling and waterskiing. A Dedicated Dive Center allows beginners to earn NAUI or PADI open water certification. The cost is $195 and all equipment and materials are provided. Certified Divers can do a 6 day/2 dives per day plus 1 night dive package for $100 or $25/day.
On land there is tennis (8 courts, 4 night lit), fitness center, aerobics and calisthenics classes, water exercises in the large freshwater pool, volleyball and baseball. Only 5 minutes from the village is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course. Weekly picnics and daily snorkeling expeditions are other options, along with nightly entertainment.
 Facilities
Accommodations are in double-occupancy, air-conditioned rooms with two full or king-size beds and private bath (shower). The main dining room serves luscious breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets (complimentary wine and beer). Two specialty restaurants, The Grill and The Pizzeria, provide other more intimate options. There is no extra charge for dining in either specialty restaurant. Club Med offers low-cholesterol, low-fat, vegetarian and low-salt choices at every meal.
