         CLINICAL PATHOLOGY FACILITY, INC., OF PITTSBURGH,
             TO MERGE WITH CORNING LAB SERVICES UNIT
    PITTSBURGH, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Clinical Pathology  Facility, Inc., of Pittsburgh, a privately owned company, has signed a definitive agreement with Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) to merge its company with a Corning Lab Services Inc. unit, it was announced today.
    Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
    Clinical Pathology Facility (CPF) is the leading independent clinical-testing laboratory between Philadelphia and Chicago. Corning Lab Services Inc. (CLSI), formed in 1990, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Corning Incorporated.
    CLSI Chairman E. Martin Gibson said, "CPF will become a key member of CLSI's network of clinical laboratories. This merger of CPF with CLSI is a major expansion for CLSI in an important geographic region. It will enhance our ability to provide high quality, local service in the Pennsylvania, Ohio, northern West Virginia and upstate New York markets."
    CPF has been providing a full range of clinical laboratory services for more than 20 years. CPF Chief Executive Officer Thomas Moses said, "We at CPF are pleased to be joining Corning, a leader in quality and a company which shares CPF's commitment to provide superior quality and services to our hospitals, physicians and patients."
   CLSI's businesses include MetPath Inc. (clinical laboratory testing for physicians and hospitals), Hazleton Corporation (biological and chemical testing for pharmaceutical, food, agricultural and chemical companies), G.H. Besselaar Associates (worldwide clinical development and marketing support of new pharmaceuticals), SciCor Inc. (clinical laboratory tests and data management) and Enseco Incorporated (laboratory testing of soil and water for environmental contaminants).
