 CLEVELAND MINORITY PURCHASING COUNCIL NAMES
LTV STEEL CORPORATION OF THE YEAR
CLEVELAND, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cleveland Regional Minority Purchasing Council has named LTV Steel Company "Corporation of the Year," in recognition of its support of minority businesses. LTV Steel's minority vendor/small business program resulted in expenditures of $65 million with more than 300 minority-owned companies in 1990.
"We expect to purchase even more from minority-owned firms in 1991 and in each succeeding year," said Robert Visokey, LTV Steel's vice president of purchasing, who accepted the award on behalf of the company.
"We recognize that our success is dependent on our customers' as well as our suppliers' success. We must all work closely together to achieve mutual prosperity," he said.
Visokey encouraged minority-owned firms not currently doing business with LTV steel to "actively call on our purchasing and traffic departments. We would like nothing more than to do more business with minority-owned companies. And those firms currently doing business with LTV Steel, we hope to see your business grow."
LTV Steel is a leading manufacturer of high-quality engineered flat rolled and tubular steel products. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of The LTV Corporation (NYSE: QLTV), a diversified company also invovled in aerospace/defense and energy products.
