CLARIS: CLARISWORKS FOR WINDOWS BUNDLED WITH TOSHIBA AND IBM COMPUTERS

ATLANTA, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Claris Corp. today announced licensing agreements for ClarisWorks for Windows with the Computer Systems Division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., the IBM Personal Computer Co. and EduQuest, the IBM (NYSE: IBM) company serving the home computer market.
ClarisWorks for Windows, a revolutionary new integrated (or "works") software solution from Claris, shipped last month in the United States.
"Windows users are flocking to ClarisWorks in its first few weeks of shipments and the agreements with IBM and Toshiba are important steps in its market-share growth," said Terry Bollons, Claris director of OEM sales.
 Toshiba Satellite Notebook Series Bundle
ClarisWorks for Windows will be bundled in the retail channel with the two new members of the Toshiba Satellite line of notebook computers unveiled today at COMDEX in Atlanta -- the Satellite T1900 and T1900C.
"With its standard-setting integration and robust features, ClarisWorks for Windows is an excellent match for our new notebook computers," said Steve Lair, vice president of marketing for Toshiba's Computer System Division.
Based on market share estimates from International Data Corp. Toshiba is the leader among IBM-compatible notebook computers, with 20-percent market share in 1992.
IBM PS/ValuePoint for the Small Business Bundle
ClarisWorks for Windows is featured in the PS/ValuePoint "For the Small Business" bundle announced today at COMDEX by the IBM Personal Computer Co.
"Based on our evaluation of the product, we believe ClarisWorks is a winning product that should enjoy the same outstanding success on Windows as it has achieved on Macintosh," said Jose Garcia, director, PS/ValuePoint Development at the IBM PC Co.
 EduQuest Forty Family Package Bundle
In a new IBM EduQuest bundle to the home market, ClarisWorks is the exclusive integrated package among 22 software programs that will come preinstalled on the EduQuest Forty Educational Computer.
Curriculum experts at Futurekids, a leading computer school system for children, who screened and selected software for inclusion in this bundle chose ClarisWorks as the best Windows productivity software for the home user.
"The superior integration of ClarisWorks for Windows makes the product extremely easy to use and an ideal fit for all members of the family," said Dan Daniel, Futurekids vice president of curriculum.
ClarisWorks Sets Standard for Integrated Software
ClarisWorks for Windows features a breakthrough in interface design that is unique among integrated packages. While other integrated products bolt together separate mini-applications, ClarisWorks for Windows seamlessly integrates robust word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, charting and database environments.
Claris Corp., a leading worldwide vendor of Windows and Macintosh applications for business, education and home, is a subsidiary of Apple Computer Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AAPL), with headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif.
