CLAIRE COHEN NAMED FITCH EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
-- FITCH FINANCIAL WIRE --
NEW YORK, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Claire Gorham Cohen is promoted to executive vice president of Fitch Investor's Service Inc., in recognition of her role in the expansion of the governmental finance ratings business, announced H. Russell Fraser, Fitch's chairman.
"Ms. Cohen has been a key factor in Fitch's expansion into the municipal bond market," Fraser said. "She is the most intellectually honest person I've met, which makes her a great leader for a rating agency," he added.
Cohen retains her position as a member of the executive committee, the company's senior-most decision-making body. As Fitch's head of governmental finance, Cohen has responsibility for general obligations of states and municipalities, revenue issues, hospitals, health care, and sovereign borrowers. She oversees Fitch's rating philosophy, methodology, and criteria and has a voice in key personnel and marketing decisions. She joined Fitch in 1989 after nearly 30 years at Dun & Bradstreet Corp. and Moody's Investors Service, where she was a managing director and chairman of the public finance department rating committee.
