1 February 2018 - Florida, US-based investment firm CJJ Hybrid Investments, LLC has acquired a majority interest in Ireland-based off-grid power to the telecom industry HYbrid Energy Solutions Ltd. (HES) to support continued growth of renewable energy, the company said.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

CJJ said HES's solutions for energy storage can generate more stability for power grids worldwide, resulting in balanced energy portfolios.

CJJ is part of a group of companies that invest in a variety of industries, including energy, automotive, aviation and real estate. CJJ is led by John Campion, an Irish-American entrepreneur who founded APR Energy, a global fast track mobile power generation company.

Hybrid Energy Solutions is focussed in the developing countries of the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Central and South America where existing electricity infrastructure and networks are inadequate.

HES designs and manufactures modular, scalable, energy stations and battery storage solutions designed to provide reliable and efficient power to a broad customer base ranging from remote telecoms base stations to utility grids.

The company has more than 16m kilowatt-hours of lithium-ion battery storage capacity currently in place and participates in a market that includes companies such as AES, Siemens and Tesla.
