CJ takes suo moto of exorbitant fee charged by private medical colleges.
ISLAMABAD:Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday took suo moto notice of exorbitant fee charges by private medical colleges for admissions and called for a report from Registrar PM&DC within a week.
The chief justice has taken suo moto notice on news item containing the details that there was no uniform admission policy criterion for admission in private medical colleges.
It was further alleged that exorbitant fee was being charged by private medical colleges.
When students could not get admission at government medical colleges, their parents rush towards private medical colleges for admission and resultantly medical colleges charge exorbitant fee.
Taking notice of the issue, the Chief Justice of Pakistan has called for detailed report from Registrar, Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad, within a week so as to apprise that:-
(i) The admission merit criterion of private medical colleges,
(ii) Structure of fee schedule and maximum limit of fee that private medical colleges can charge,
(iii) The role of PM&DC in regulating the admissions and fee charges of private medical colleges
(iv)Action in that regard, so far taken by PM&DC, if any.
